<----
Your typical economy class aircraft food

Literally cold turkey treatment.
(Yes, this is a piece of half-eaten cold turkey sandwich.)

Various scenes of Tokyo/Narita Airport

Seattle Pike Market. Them whole dungeness crabs are more than a kilo each while each alaskan king crab leg weighs about half a kilo.

Where we stayed.

Views from my hotel room.

Tuesday 15 Nov 2005

At the entrance of the convention centre.
Free Microsoft Chocolate 2005, evaluation copy (i.e. 1/3 full), courtesy of Microsoft, of course.

Keynote by the richest man in the world
Waiting for the richest man in the world to speak (we were 15 minutes early but see how packed the hall already was).

Bored people taking photos of other bored poeple waiting for the richest man in the world to appear

And he speaks!

And halfway through the audience starts to leave ...

In and around the exhibition hall

"Magic Show" by Sun a.k.a. "Sun performs magic on your business".

Outside the convention centre

IBM Reception at the Space Needle

<----
This geeking/dorking looking blue flashing IBM light was the ticket to the event.

Thursday 17 November

Boeing reception at the Museum of Flight near the Seattle airport. Open to all conference attendees.

Crab dinner (own self pay one) later tht night at The Crab Pot.
Not exactly all-you-can-eat but there was more than enough.

While walking along the streets...

A sample of freebies collected

NBCR mug, courtesy of friends from SDSC
Microsoft USB thumb drive (USB 1.0, 32MB) and Microsoft geeky/dorky blinking light (failure rate 50%).
What is probably the most desirable item in the entire exhibit hall. Had to abandon all professional principles and ethics and cheer for Sun in order to get one (unless you happen to work for Microsoft, in which case you get 2).
Dell T-shirt, Microsoft T-shirt

Personal trip to Portland by rail.

Sunday 20 November 2005

On the way to, in and round Portland Airport.

Monday 21 November 2005

Transit in Narita Airport.

When in Japan ...
... you get to eat authentic ramen (tastes just like the local variety, actually)...

...and you also get to watch Sumo wrestling (on a Korean TV).
